Superman No More?

What do you think would happen if DC lost the rights to Superman? Would the Siegel and Shuster families sell Superman to another company or would they not do anything with him?

I think it would be silly if they didn't just sell the rights back to DC.

Honestly, if they got the rights back, they would either sell them back to DC or to whomever else offered them more...which, in this world of terrible literature based movie adaptions, is a scary, scary though.

I would laugh so freakin hard if Image/IDW/Dark Horse scored Supes. I know they don't have the sort of money WB/DC will be throwing at it, but the quality of stories, oh my.

What else would go with Superman? It's it Clark Kent alone or would his villains be apart of the law suit also?

Hmmm...that's a good question, actually. Does right of ownership stop at Superman? Would subsequent villains and spin off heroes still be owned by DC?

I think, if the rights did change, it'd just be for Superman. They'd make the argument that Supes was created before the rights ever changed hands. Therefore, any characters made after that deal, wouldn't be subject to swapping of ownership. ...but I'm no lawyer. I just play one on T.V.

Maybe just the characters that Jerry and Shuster created. Characters like Zod and Brainiac would be safe.
